The Journey Through Fussy Eating - 6-10 year olds
Date: Wednesday 27th March > Time: 7-9pm >Place: Zoom
This workshop is run in collaboration with Rachel from Our Parenting Journeys (www.ourparentingjourneys.com)
This workshop is aimed at families with children from 6 - 10 years old.
Are mealtimes becoming more and more stressful and food seems to be a common battle ground with your child?
Do you worry that your child is not eating enough and /or that they are not getting the nutrients they need?
Do you feel at a loss when it comes to feeding your picky eater?
You are not alone! We know just how challenging fussy eating can be, both from our work with many families, and because we are mothers too.
The journey through fussy eating workshop equips parents to nourish their picky eater through proven gentle methods. In a small group of other parents struggling with similar challenges, we will initially create space for you to express your concerns and worries. Then based on our combined 30 years of experience of working with families we will provide you with evidence-based information about nutrition and fussy eating, and provide you with a tool box of practical strategies you can implement straight away.
During this workshop we will:
- Talk about what fussy eating is and how and why is can develop
- Think about an approach to fussy eating that puts relationship and connection first - Think about expectations around appetite, portion size and growth
- Explore key information about child nutrition and think about ways to nourish a fussy eater
- Discuss how to keep exposing your child to new foods without wasting foods and making multiple meals for your family
- Talk through realistic and practical methods to improve your child’s nutrient intake
- Talk about how to manage stressful mealtime behaviour and how to manage food refusal
- Explore a number of strategies that will take the stress out of mealtimes for everyone, keep exposing your child to new foods and will support your child to develop a healthy relationship with food.
There will be a maximum of 7 other parents on the workshop, meaning we will have lots of opportunity for questions and getting to your individual challenges and concerns. The 2-hour workshop will take place on Zoom and costs £60. THE BASIC NUTRITIONIST and OUR PARENTING JOURNEYS offer subsidised places available for families who are facing financial challenges – please get in touch if you would like to discuss this further. The course price includes: - An interactive presentation to maximise learning - Q&A time and an opportunity to address individual concerns with Rachel and Sofi - A workbook of the course slides.
